Ode to Nothing

There once was a trader named Jack

Who had saved up a fair sized stack

He wanted to trade, and wanted to make the grade

But the markets first took the shirt off his back

You see Jack thought he knew what a stock might do

When he looked at the chart he said with a start,” higher”

But he caught the top and it continued to drop.

It would have been wiser to shovel his dollars into a fire

So he did average down, and you know what he found?

Prices where lower the next day.

So in a rage, he flew around his cave, saying it just wasn’t fair

“Confound it man, it should be going up”. More of a statement than a dare.

“I need more information and another indicator too”

So he looked for confirmation until his face turned blue.

He loaded up on fibs, vix and Dow levels times 2.

“Market” he thought, surely I’m now smarter than you.

Green filled his flat screens and in triumph he proclaimed;

“I’m king of the markets” and started to gloat and actually went shopping for a fairly big sized boat.

But by the next morning the markets pile drived without warning

Slaughtering the longs like goats.

So he sold and went short with the coins he had left, which weren’t much

And down went the candles in a mad junkies rush

Lower it went until single digits were printed

Jack burped in delight at all the coin he had just minted

There must be a way he thought to win this simple game

In a moment of clarity he called out FNGs name

“This fellow knows nothing and doesn’t predict the future

But pounces on trends like an emaciated vulture.”

He says “you don’t need to know, if stocks will rise or stocks will fall

“Just trust in the probability, that is all”

“Tune out the chatter, the opinions, the CNBC”

“Focus your mind, Get into the flow”, was his decree

Jack took the advice and lo and behold he needed a bigger coffer for all his new gold

He took the money the market proffered on the bid or on the offer as he was so bold

Long or short it mattered not, his head was free from distraction

Stealing the momo and surfing the waves of the wild market action

“This is the way” he said to himself, through goods times or bad

Profits should be taken and there is no reason to get mad.

For the market will do its thing with you along or naught

Just don’t think you know or you’ll be left with diddly squat.
