Hey, Scott, how do you find these higher priced day rangers that move multiple $?

I played AIG long twice today for some really nice gains...I had it on my watchlist as it was a market preleader. However, I never saw OSK, and it never came up in my IB preleader scans.

Yeah AIG was great trading again today and yesterday.
I saw OSK late myself. It was on the making new highs list. I saw it 2 days ago as well but didn't trade it.

yngvai, i didn't get OSK with my trade ideas scanner either. i checked finviz gapping scan later on and they had it. i used to look at a few different websites for gappers, then i only used my trade ideas scanner, but now i think i will go back to checking a few different websites. finviz is free and so is prophet.net

I know its hard when you are first starting out but you need to have the right tools for whatever job you are doing. If you are a carpenter you don't buy your tools at Wal mart. If you are a daytrader, the speed of information is paramount. You need it when as it happens- not 5 or 15 minutes later. If you're swing trading this is not a problem.
This is not to say finviz etc. are not good tools, only that time equals money is this business.

Hi Scott,
I read somewhere in your blog that your broker is Penson, may I know how much they charge for commission fees? Are you also paying Realtick for chart services?

i agree. the finviz and prophet are delayed but they show me gappers which i don't need in real time because they happen at 9:30 and i don't start trading till 10 usually. but, trade ideas is real time and it's great. you can filter for anything you want i.e. volume, volume that day, price, average true range. so what i do after learning from your screener is, i screen for stocks over $10, trade at least million a day, have 1.5x volume on the particular day, minimum day range of $2, that are breaking highs/lows in real time, or breaking out of a 60 min consolidation. i also have scanners in other windows checking highs/lows on my etfs, my gap lists, and my momo stocks. i am sure you think it is all way too much info on the screens. i am slowly cutting back and can ignore the stuff i don't need to look at. but i wasn't good enough to see the market on one screen. i'd forget a stock, or lose focus. now when i put up the charts, i just watch, and watch, and wait for something to happen. i don't lose focus, and i can concentrate on those 9 stocks all day. here is a screen shot that is slightly outdated. instead of 6 charts on my left i have 9. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_pGCAQK7Qasw/SnDmgNKrLWI/AAAAAAAABI0/v8r7fb5Rvf0/s1600-h/orders+6.16.bmp
